Description
This is the winder originally accompanying the AMA Alpha kit, and the winder has proven itself as a great addition to the flight bag. Counting winds is easy (“1, 2, 3, 4, 100, 1, 2, 3, 4, 200″—like that), and this winder is robust enough to handle pretty good torque. I use this winder to quickly install the first 1500 or so turns on a 4 x 1/8” loop for a P-30 before changing over to a heavier-duty 10:1 winder for the final 500 turns. It’s also a great winder for Sci Oly students or other indoor flyers. The only downside is that the output shaft is a thicker piece of winder than the yellow KP Aero yellow 15:1, which sometimes makes slipping it through small O-rings is more challenging.
